Breaking News- Cllr Leon Spence joins the Conservatives at County Hall

Statement from Conservative Group Leader, Nicholas Rushton CC

Cllr Leon Spence, the Independent member for the Whitwick Division, has today joined the Conservative Group on Leicestershire County Council.

Reacting to the news, County leader Nick Rushton said, “I am delighted that Leon has accepted my offer of joining the Conservative Group at County Hall. I have always respected Leon as a hard-working councillor who puts residents first. He will make an excellent addition to our Group and will hit the ground running. Knowing Leon’s strengths, interests and experience in children’s services, he will be working closely with Ivan Ould, our Lead Member.”

In making the move, Cllr Spence said, “I’ve finally found my political home. Nick and his team have made me feel very welcome. In the end, it was a fairly easy decision to make. I believe that the country is, on the whole, heading in the right direction under the Prime Minister, Theresa May. I very much look forward to working with the Conservatives at County Hall.”
